Dr.Maharajan Chandrasekaran is a pioneer in the field of Endocrine Surgery in India. Out of 25 years of experience in the field of Surgery he has spent over 20 long years doing only Endocrine Surgery at Madras, the medical Mecca of India. In endocrine surgery he further specialised in the field of thyroidology. He is a founder member of the Indian Association of Endocrine Surgeons and the first national secretary for the IAES. He has seen over 19,000 patients with thyromegaly and has performed over 5,000 thyroidectomies in the last 20 years. This is perhaps one of the largest one man series in Asia!

Dr.Maharajan Chandrasekaran is the Professor and Head of the Department of Endocrine Surgery at Madras Medical College and Endocrine surgeon, Government General Hospital, Chennai.

He has started a new super speciality course, M.Ch. Endocrine Surgery from the academic year 2007-08 the first of its kind in South India at Madras Medical College. He is the President Elect 2008 for the Indian Association of Endocrine Surgeons.(IAES)

He is also the Consultant Endocrine Surgeon for Apollo Speciality Hospital, Chennai.
